The shape of country is defined by the higher educations and the research activities adapted by it for the production of potential human resources which may abruptly bring new approaches for nation. While we talk about science and technology in the prospective of Nepal, it has yet to follow the world trend. Nepal is very rich in bioresourcesas matter of proud along with rich in many infectious diseases as an indicator of poor economic development. My intuition always says, Nepal can exploit two things for Nepalese prosperities by application of biotechnology- one the use of medicinal plants for drug discovery and the next, disease related research findings to contribute in the health aspects of living beings. Further, this tiny naturally beautiful country has tropical environment to the coldest atmosphere where all sorts of genetically self adapted organisms are looking for their exploitation for making Nepal an economically rich country. We need to lead our country for the development together with welfare of all living beings.

Biotechnology, one of the most important applied sciences of the 21st century, is one of a cutting-edge technology which can tackle richness and hurdles to achieve progresses. Biotechnology has strength in improving production and environment friendly products from plants, animals and microorganism; producing cost effective new pharmaceuticals; using more efficient disease diagnosis and treatment; effective criminal investigation methods etc. Nepal being rich in bioresources, it has huge potential to break the iceberg. So,lets join our biotechnology hands to create thebest national strategies to harness the benefit of the accumulated knowledge.

Considering the utmost importance of modern biotechnology, TU established Central Department of Biotechnology in 2008 and have produced skilled graduates in the diverse arenas. In the time course, it defined Institutional Motto as "Welfare of Nation and people through Biotechnology" and Institution Vision as"World class Biotechnology institute for serving lives and nature".The focused Institution Mission is to explore the very specific new fields to our Nepalese context to conduct research and give message to scientific community of the world. Eventually, the Goal of Central Department of Biotechnology is to establish CDBT as the first choice of bioscience study which directly contribute for the welfare of nation and people through biotechnology.

Within my 100 day celebration, the Department has conducted series of scientific activities to literate Nepalese people about biotechnology and its scopes. For instance, third International South Asian Biotechnology Conference-Kathmandu, workshop in Natural Products and Drug Discovery, First Summer School in Applied Molecular Biotechnology techniques etc. Further, research environment in the premises of Department has been improved substantially. Now, I feel the day to contribute nation through Tribhuvan University by applying biotechnology has approached very close.

I conclude this Message from the table of Head of Department by saying

"Visionary for the achievement is, though, the prime component to lead better for an organization, once a stakeholder is in the key position, it is not surely done until the person is with positive thought."
